We are inviting all businesses to enter the 2019 Garstang in Bloom Business Competition which we are running in collaboration with Independent Garstang Traders.
This year we will be using a theme in line with the Garstang Arts Festival, which will celebrate the bicentenary of the opening of the Lancaster Canal which brought a great deal of prosperity to the Town as does tourism today.
The judging will take place around the end of June and will once again be undertaken by an independent judge to RHS guidelines
As was the case on 2018 the judging will not be categorised, but winning entries will be awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze certificates. The overall winner will be the highest scoring entry and will receive the Carrs Jeweller’s Trophy. The Norah Hoyles Trophy will this year be awarded to the best Canal themed entry. An awards and fundraising evening is hosted by the Independent Garstang Traders in September where each entrant will given a free ticket to attend (extra tickets will be available).
The Bloom Team are competing at National Level this year and we need everyone’s help to make the Town look great. Our colour scheme will be reds, yellow and blue the main colours of the canal folk art.
We are very fortunate to have great support from the IGT, who will once again host and sponsor the Awards Evening, as well as support from individual traders who have donated money, held raffles and helping by giving us spent coffee grounds to mulch and protect our plants from pests. If you can help in any novel way or would simply like to make a donation towards Garstang In Bloom please contact me as below.
