Community Centre Update
A packed meeting last week confirmed that many people would like to advance the option of listing the building as a community asset. The Town Council will now advance the application and keep you informed.
The Council Offices and Community Building at the head of our High Street is a historical building and has been used by the Garstang Community for a century or more.
The future of the site is being reviewed by Wyre Borough Council ‘current owners’ with the options of a Community Buyout, Community Asset transfer or open market disposal.
Your Town Council has nominated the building to be considered as a community asset, the outcome of which is awaited, however your Town Council is trying to gauge the community temperature with regard to the options, do we allow the building to be sold on the open market, or do we have sufficient support to explore fully the potential for retaining the building for use by Garstang Town Council and associated community groups? Your views are welcomed. Please come along and share them.
