Garstang Lions Bonfire & Firework Display

This year’s Garstang Bonfire and Firework Display will take place on Saturday the 3rd of November. The Bonfire will be lit at 7.00pm with the Firework Display starting at 7.30pm. The entrance price has been kept the same as last year at £3 per person with under fives being admitted for free. Refreshments will be available.

The Bonfire is built on the day and quite onerous safety requirements must be in place in terms of what materials are used. Because of this it is not possible to accept any firewood from the general public. As in recent years all the firewood used is donated by local businesses.

Ideally the Firework Display will be moved back to its traditional location across the river from the Bonfire. Bad weather and poor ground conditions have made it impossible to get the display in this position in recent years however a new access off Castle Lane is planned.

Parking will be difficult due to the crowds and also the new bollards so drivers are asked to try and park away from the event to ease congestion and maintain a safe environment. Disabled parking facilities will be available for ‘Blue Badge’ holders.

A new feature is planned for this year – a Guy Fawkes competition. Open to school children and there will be prizes given for the best three entries – £30 for 1st; £20 for 2nd; £10 for 3rd. Judging will take place at 1.00pm on the Saturday afternoon. Anyone wishing to enter can bring their Guy along at 12.30pm. Anyone wanting more info can contact the Lions on the number below.
