Marsden Building Society raises £500 for North West Air Ambulance Awareness Week

Marsden Building Society hosted an Air Ambulance awareness week across its branch network this week in support of their affinity partners North West Air Ambulance and to mark the re-launch of their junior affinity account and raised a fantastic £500!

Marsden Building Society currently offers Affinity accounts for their members in which savers can support their chosen charity based on the idea that the more you save, the more the Marsden donate. Members of the Marsden choose the affinity account as the Society’s promise is to donate 0.5% of the total average balance of all their affinity accounts to NWAA annually. The Marsden has donated over £160,000 to the North West Air Ambulance over the past few years, yet they do not want to stop there.

Local branches were visited by the charity’s mascot, Paramedic Pup and NWAA volunteers to speak to members about how the fundraising supports the charity as well as the work they do on a day to day basis. Each branch had a stall of NWAA merchandise and ran fundraising events to get their members involved. In support of NWAA the Society handed out children’s colouring competitions, sold raffle tickets and each branch ran their own events too such as “name the pup” and tombola’s.

Katie Lamburn, Garstang Branch Manager for the Marsden said, “The charity has wide support from our members and we hope, with their support, the affinity accounts and continued fundraising activities across the business that we can increase our donation. It costs just over £13k to keep one of the helicopters flying each month and so the Marsden has set its mission to keep the helicopter’s flying for as long as possible with our next donation and hope that members get on board with our mission to help too!”

Liz Greenwood, regional fundraiser at the North West Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We would like to thank Marsden Building Society for its continued support, both through its charity saving accounts and fundraising events. Colne is one of the many areas we cover, and as a charity totally reliant on donations support like this is vital for us to continue our life-saving work in the North West.
“We would also like to share our gratitude with all of our supporters who have a charity savings account with Marsden Building Society – we wouldn’t be here without you!”
