Sainsbury’s First Charity Events for Croston House

Croston House has been chosen as Sainsbury’s Garstang new local charity partner for 2011/2012. The announcement comes after the store asked its customers which local charity they should support. Customers were able to vote for their favourite local charity between 4th and 25th May.

Croston House works to support all those affected by cancer by offering free, confidential help and advice to patients, carers, friends and family. It was chosen as the store’s charity after nominations poured in from customers keen to support a local good cause. Over the next 12 months, the charity will benefit from money donated through fundraising as well as volunteering.

Kath Boit, the lead nurse at Croston House, said: “We’re really excited to be partnering with Sainsbury’s Garstang over the next 12 months and would like to thank everyone in the community who voted for us. We will be planning fundraising activities with the store colleagues in the coming weeks and we hope that customers will support the store’s fundraising efforts in the coming months”.

The store plan to launch the partnership with Croston House by hosting a sale of handicrafts produced by service users and volunteers. The event will take place on Friday 1st July from 10oclock onwards.

Stuart Butters, our store manager, added: “Croston House is such a worthy local cause and we’re pleased and proud to be supporting it over the next 12 months. We’ll be letting our customers know of our fundraising plans and we hope they can join our colleagues in helping to support them”.
